Rolls-Royce Service Day

By |May 29, 2015|Blog & News|Comments Off on Rolls-Royce Service Day

CIS_RR_10webCrossroads Industrial Services received some assistance with some very necessary grounds keeping and outdoor maintenance on May 26, 2015, through the generosity of employees from Rolls-Royce.

Randy France, Commodity Strategy Engineering Manager at Rolls-Royce, worked with Easter Seals Crossroads Board member Fran Gale to identify a team building/day of service event. The group tackled a beautification project to clear bush and trash on an abandoned CRX railroad track right next to the Crossroads building.

The rain held off and the engineering team was able to complete the project, which contributed greatly to neighborhood and employee pride. The project also served as an employee team-building effort for the Rolls-Royce employees – they worked together, yet outside of their typical work relationships.

“It was a pleasure working this project for Crossroads yesterday. The team concurred afterwards that we all felt good about what was accomplished for Crossroads while doing some team building for ourselves,” said Randy France.

Curtiss Quirin – COO, Crossroads Industrial Services – was extremely pleased with project. “The results are dramatic; we know that our customers and neighbors will appreciate it. We look forward to future involvement with Rolls-Royce on all levels.”

Partnership Benefits Community

By |May 7, 2015|Blog & News|Comments Off on Partnership Benefits Community

When AIG insurance – a premiere provider of protection, investment and income options for individuals seeking financial and retirement security – made the decision to digitize their files and records, they looked to The ARC Davidson County and Greater Nashville to meet their needs. They had over 6 million files that needed to be prepped, organized and scanned in order to be effectively managed and maintained. AIG knew that the move to digitize would result in a huge reduction of paper document storage and expense.

The partnership began when AIG hired 28 dedicated and loyal employees to begin the process. These employees came from The ARC Davidson County and Greater Nashville – a family-based organization that promotes, protects and advocates for the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. AIG provided employment opportunities for individuals in their community and supported the mission of The ARC at the same time.

Employees Provide Quality Service

Sue left the US Army in 1990 as a sergeant after almost ten years of active military service, where she began working at the Fort Harrison Finance Center in Indianapolis processing military paychecks. Due to her congestive heart failure, Sue had to quit that job and was devastated for several years following while she dealt with her health issues.

“It was terrible; my life was totally turned upside down. I felt that my future looked very bleak because I was so very sick,” said Sue. Eventually she started feeling better and wanted to do something beneficial with her time. “I wanted to give back, but felt nervous about returning to work. Volunteering seemed like a good option, and I began doing that at three different places,” said Sue.

One of those places was Crossroads Industrial Services, a division of Easter Seals Crossroads. “I felt so excited after my first day there,” said Sue. The excitement of that first day and the feeling of being valued stretched into ten years of volunteer service for Sue where she helped Anne Traub in the Human Resources department with filing, making copies and general assistance with clerical duties. The longer she worked, the more confidence she had gained in thinking about employment, especially since her health had improved enough to allow her to work longer periods of time. Anne and Sue turned to the Employment Division at Easter Seals Crossroads and sought assistance from Heather Gable to research part-time employment.

“I hated to lose Sue as a volunteer because of her work ethic, great attitude and attention to detail. I was so excited for Sue when a part-time position opened up in the Document Services area right here at Crossroads Industrial Services,” said Anne.

Sue was quickly hired for a document preparation and scanning position with Mary Jo Gremling as her supervisor. “Sue is absolutely the best of the best when it comes to taking her work seriously,” said Mary Jo, “She holds herself to very high standards and that is exactly the kind of detail that is needed with document preparation. Companies entrust us with their valuable documents and Sue is just the right employee for that trust.”

Sue continues to be a volunteer at varying agencies around the city, in addition to being a regular part-time employee at Crossroads Industrial Services. “I feel that I have purpose and structure in my life, and I can give back because I am so fortunate,” said Sue.

Crossroads Industrial Services is fortunate to have employees like Sue – employees who provide quality service for our customers.
