Mary Jo might be the new kid on our block, but she brings more than 30 years of professional business experience. She spent the last 10 years as owner of her own document scanning business, eLucida Imaging, which she sold to Crossroads Industrial Services one year ago.
Mary Jo brings a wide array of experience to Crossroads. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo, OH as a Registered Nurse, honing her skills in the ICU, coronary care, rehabilitation, home health and parish nurse ministry areas. She also helped to start a crisis pregnancy center in Jonesboro, Arkansas and served as Executive Director for a year. Because of the high number of clients seen at that facility, Mary Jo was invited to speak at a national conference in Hawaii and went on to help start other similar centers.
When opportunity knocked, Mary Jo answered: During her seven years as a stay-at-home mom for her two children, she learned to paint and spent several years teaching portrait art to adults on a part-time basis. This sparked her interest in becoming a full-time writer for children, which led her to begin studying the children’s publishing industry. A new career opportunity arose when a children’s textbook publishing company approached her about doing digital illustrations. The work also involved helping write and edit children’s textbooks, which required a special writing ability to convey the material in a concise and targeted manner for different reading levels. The position catapulted her into the electronic document world working with artists, writers and editors throughout the country for ten years.
Mary Jo created her outsourced document scanning service in 2003, which was a certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE). She continues to utilize her wide range of knowledge, skills and experience as the manager of Crossroads Document Services, which offers comprehensive document management solutions. Mary Jo helps a variety of customers convert all types of documents into digital format, which provides affordable, easy-to-access and secure archiving alternatives to paper record storage. As team leader, Mary Jo is also responsible for training employees in document preparation and operation of both large and small format scanners. Quality is a top priority, and Mary Jo’s goal is to have her team produce the best possible readable and printable image of every original.
As a result of Mary Jo’s expertise in the Document Scanning business arena, she was awarded the 2008 Business Woman of the Year by the Network of Women in Business in Indianapolis.
Mary Jo currently lives in the Nora area of Indianapolis with her husband, Roger. She is utilizing her artistic design skills helping her husband renovate their newly purchased home in anticipation of her parents coming to live with them.
We are proud to have Mary Jo Gremling as a part of our Crossroads Document Services Team.
